The Enemy Never Broke the Gate Someone From the Tribe Opened It
For centuries, the Red Hawk Tribe had been living in the valley surrounded by forests and mountains. The village was ruled by the fearless and strong Chief Aiyana Blackhawk.

Everyone in the tribe knew the words drilled into them since childhood An enemy outside the walls can be defeated, but an enemy inside the tribe can destroy everything.
Most people hardly believed it was possible for such a tragedy to happen before sunset. The Harvest Fire Festival has just begun, and the whole village gathered in the central square
Kids were running after each other, chasing sparks from the bonfires while the elders were chanting the old songs. The enemy had brought plenty of meat, and the whole tribe was united in celebrating another survived year
Suddenly, the red banner fluttered above the bonfire. The chief grabbed the banner and dropped it in the fire. WHOOSH,

a flaming arrow hit the dirt at his feet. Moments later, dozens of arrows rained down from the tops of the surrounding trees. The whole village was thrown into chaos as the smoke from the burning banner filled the square
Warriors raised their shields and ran to the village walls, trying to spot the enemy. Mothers took their children to the longhouses and hid behind the thick furs. The scout Talon Graywolf ran up to the chief, gasping for air
They are attacking from both sides, Chief Aiyana turned around and motioned for the warriors to take positions at the north and south gates
The rhythmic beating of drums rose from the forest while the arrows still rained down on the village. Chief Aiyana felt that the enemy was trying to lure them into a long-drawn battle
But what surprised him was that the majority of warriors could barely see the attackers. After a few minutes, the arrows became sparser, and the drums became fainter
It was as if the enemy just wanted to draw attention to the village, making the tribe think there was an attack when, in fact, something else was happenin
. Aiyana gathered his best warriors and ran towards the main village gate. The chief halted few paces from the gate, stunned at the sight that met his eyes
heir wooden gate was open, and two tribal guards, Kai Riverstone and Niko Red Elk, were slumped on the floor with blood trickling from their arms
Their eyes were open, but they were too weak to move or scream. Aiyana’s lips formed a tight line, observing the two guards’ injuries
He stepped outside the gate, looking at the muddy ground. Then, his eyes locked on something on the other side of the gate, making his jaw stiffen

Talon followed his chief’s gaze and dropped to his knees, digging out a small tribal pendant from the dirt. He turned around, showing the chief the broken bone pendant
“Chief his voice trailed off as he realized whose possession this item was in. Aiyana’s eyes narrowed into slits, taking in the image of the tribal pendant. It was a revered token, given only to the tribe’s loyal members. All the warriors around the chief fell silent, processing the information
One of them had betrayed the Red Hawk tribe. It was someone from their own tribe who had let the enemy into the village. According to the trail of footprints leading away from the village
this person was voluntarily leaving the tribe with the enemy
Kai and Niko mustered enough strength to speak. “Before the enemy attacked, someone in a tribal cloak told us that the chief had allowed them to pass through the village as the hunters returned to the village said Kai, gritting his teeth.
“They attacked us, but we managed to knock them off the gate. He coughed violently, still trying to catch his breath. “We were too shocked to know who they were when they fled into the woods
The enemy attack was just a diversion to make the tribe think the attackers had come from the forest. When the attack began, most warriors were too distracted to notice that someone had sneaked away from the gate
While the guards were dealing with the enemy, the traitor had escaped with the enemy forces. That night, the celebration ended as the fires dimmed, and no more songs were heard from the tribe
People believed that this traitor had betrayed the tribe, either for riches promised by the enemy or a secret the enemy sought.

They say the enemy wanted something the Red Hawk tribe kept right under their noses. The chief did not believe the tribe was being betrayed by one of their own, but he knew they had to uncover the truth
Everyone in the tribe was under the chief’s suspicion, and questioning continued. The whole village spent sleepless nights searching for the traitor
Some of the kindest people the tribe knew turned out to be the enemy’s spies. The friendships of decades were shattered as the tribe questioned everyone, including the Red Hawks’ allies
The worst part was not the actual attacks or even the treason. It was that the very people who should have protected the tribe were the ones letting it down

Before sunrise, Talon found something suspicious along the path the traitor had taken. He noticed the markings of only three horses, but the scouts said fifty enemy riders took part in the attack
Chief Aiyana saw where the horses’ hooves had dug the dirt. He realized the enemy never attacked their village. As the sun peeked over the horizon, Chief Aiyana showed the tribal pendant to the assembled warriors.
We did not win this battle because our warriors were weak; we lost because someone forgot what this pendant signified
he said, raising the pendant above his head. He ordered for the village gate to be reboarded and the guards to be honored for their bravery
The chief also sent a handful of scouts to follow the trail and question the people in the neighboring valley. Aiyana was unaware of what was waiting for them

Nobody knew who the traitor was or what the enemy wanted the tribe to suffer. But the battle cry now belonged to the Red Hawks, and their next fight would be against those who had betrayed them.
Lesson
The strongest walls cannot protect a community when trust is broken from within. Real strength comes from loyalty, honesty, and standing together, especially when fear tries to divide everyone.
