He Couldn’t Stop Crying in Court… And the Reason Behind His Tears Will Break Your Heart!
Andrew Mitchell had never thought he would be in this situation. Unfortunately, he had struggled with tears while standing in front of a courtroom.

He was only 27, but he stood behind his podium with his microphone. The tears had began to roll across both of his eyes. He was trying to stay calm, however his emotions started to take over.
After a couple of seconds he lifted his hands to wipe his face.
What could bring a young man to tears in front of a courtroom? In this fictional story, he was crying because he loved his family, couldn’t keep his promises and wanted to change his future.
Andrew Mitchell Was Once a Family’s Hope The Emotional Courtroom Moment That Revealed His Pain
Andrew lived in a small town along with his mother, Susan Mitchell, and younger sister, Emily. His father had left when Andrew was a child, so Susan worked hard at the local grocery shop to make ends meet.
Andrew knew how tough life was for his mum. As a teen he tried to help her with money if he could. He would often walk his sister home from school so she would never feel alone.
“You don’t have to make my life perfect, just don’t get lost looking for it,” his mother often said.
However, as he began to grow up his life had become complex.

Andrew lost his job from his local warehouse which made him struggle with money. He became frustrated and stopped being open with his family. He started making snap decisions.
He kept telling everyone that everything was under control.
They weren’t.
Mistakes Causing a Change
Andrew always thought that things would sort themselves out eventually. If anything went wrong he would forget about it and hope it would go away.
Unfortunately, Andrew kept making decisions causing him to end up in a serious legal situation.
His mother became distraught. While wanting to help him, she also knew she couldn’t pretend everything was okay.
“Andrew why didn’t you tell me you were struggling?” she said during their phone call.
He didn’t answer.

Andrew wanted to explain that he was embarrassed, scared and worried he’d let her down but he couldn’t.
He realised for the first time that by not telling his family about his issues made everything worse.
The Emotional Court Scene
Andrew was in one of the worst situations he had ever been in.
While standing behind his podium he was trying to keep his eyes forward. His facial expression showed he was having an internal battle.
A tear started running down his cheek.
He blinked repeatedly trying to keep control, however his emotions were getting the better of him. He lifted his hands to wipe his face.
He covered part of his forehead and eyes.
He looked down.
It wasn’t a big scene. Andrew was just trying to stay together. This was a young man struggling to remain calm.
Throughout the morning Andrew had been thinking about his mom and sister. He knew they were worried and couldn’t stop thinking about how they must be feeling.

He had always promised to keep his family safe from any trouble.
He was now questioning if his decisions had caused them more pain.
Words He Couldn’t Say
Prior to the hearing his lawyer Daniel Foster told him to stay calm and listen.
“Just focus on what the truth is Andrew. Don’t let your fears stop you from telling the truth,” he told Andrew.
Andrew was grateful for the advice, but couldn’t help but think about what his mother had told him.
“I still believe you can make better decisions but you need to want to change,” she had told him a few days prior.
At the time Andrew had barely replied, however now the words felt heavier.
Andrew wished he could tell her he was sorry for keeping her up, not replying to her calls and worrying her. He could promise things would be different.
However, he knew that promising wouldn’t mean much if he didn’t change his actions.
Andrew took a deep breath as his lawyer stood beside him.

Why Were His Tears So Powerful?
Those watching may wonder if Andrew was scared, sorry, overwhelmed or thinking about someone he cared about.
As the video doesn’t show who he is, why he’s crying or what his situation is we can’t know what he was thinking.
However, Andrew’s fictional story shows a situation many can relate to. Sometimes we don’t realise how heavy our decisions are until we have to face the consequences.
Andrew wasn’t thinking about showing off to anyone in the room. He was thinking about the life he wanted to start again and not letting those he cares about down.
For the first time he wasn’t pretending to be okay.
Perhaps this was the start of something.
The Lesson
This story shows us that it isn’t a bad thing to ask for help. By hiding your issues, not taking responsibility and promising to change but not doing so can cause harm to yourself and those who care.
Life doesn’t always go to plan. Everyone makes mistakes and goes through tough situations. However, how we react when we finally realise what has gone wrong is important.
Don’t wait until everything has gone wrong to realise how amazing the people around you are. Take responsibility, be honest and do everything you can to be a better person than you were yesterday.
Sometimes the most powerful moment starts with a simple honest moment.
