She Slapped an Elderly Cleaner – Then the CEO Called Her “Mom”
The Day Everyone Learned Who Margaret Wilson Really Was
The offices of EverGreen Technologies were a place to be. Every employee wore clothes and got to work on time. They all wanted to make an impression on the CEO, Daniel Brooks
Margaret Wilson came to the office every morning. She worked as a janitor. Margaret Wilson was seventy-two years old.
Margaret Wilson did her job well she cleaned the offices and made tea for the managers when they had meetings.

Margaret Wilson was kind to everyone. She always. Was happy even when people did not treat her nicely.. Most of the people who worked at EverGreen Technologies were very respectful to Margaret Wilson. There was one person who was not very nice to Margaret Wilson,
her name was Jessica Carter Jessica Carter was an executive who had just started working at EverGreen Technologies. Jessica Carter did not treat the employees very well.
She would often yell at the people who worked at the reception desk and the cleaners. Margaret Wilson did not say anything when Jessica Carter was mean to her.
On a Monday morning the company was getting ready for a meeting with one of their clients. All the employees were rushing to get to the office

Margaret Wilson made tea for everyone in the conference room. Jessica Carter tasted the tea. Did not like it. “I told you to make it without sugar she said angrily
The whole room got quiet. “I am very sorry ” said Margaret Wilson. She tried to stay calm and brought another cup of tea.. Jessica Carter slapped Margaret Wilson across the face and the teacup fell to the floor. The cup broke into pieces and everyone in the room gasped
Nobody expected Jessica Carter to be so mean. Margaret Wilson picked up the pieces of the broken cup and tears started to fall from her eyes. She did not say a word. Jessica Carter told her to clean up the mess. “You people never learn ” she said.
The room got very quiet. Most people wanted to say something. They did not want to make the CEO upset.
Then the conference room door. Ceo Daniel Brooks walked in. He was holding some files. Smiling, but when he saw Margaret Wilson he stopped smiling. Margaret Wilson was still on the floor wiping away tears.
Daniel Brooks looked at Jessica Carter. Then at Margaret Wilson. The whole room got quiet. Then Daniel Brooks went to Margaret Wilson and helped her up

He asked her “Mom why did you come to work today?” Everyone in the room was shocked. Jessica Carters face turned white as she looked at Daniel Brooks and at Margaret Wilson. Margaret Wilson wiped away her tears. Said, “I came to work today to see if my sons success has made him forget about the people around him.”
Everyone in the room got quiet. Daniel Brooks looked down at the floor. He knew his mother had told him to take a break and enjoy his retirement.
Margaret Wilson always believed that people should be honest and kind. She came to the office to see how the company was treating its employees Daniel Brooks did not know that Margaret Wilson was working at the office as a janitor not as his mother
Daniel Brooks looked around the room Said “My mother worked here for a week pretending to be just another employee. She wanted to see if our company was really living up to its values

The room got quiet again. Daniel Brooks continued, “Our company is not about making money it is about being a good company You were mean to my mother You did not even know who she was. That is not okay Jessica Carter started to cry when she realized what she had done She was sorry for being mean to Margaret Wilson
She was sorry for not being kind to her own mother and to everyone who believed that being a good leader means being kind to others.
Jessica Carter said sorry to Margaret Wilson. “I am sorry for being mean to you ” she said. Margaret Wilson looked at Jessica Carter. Said, “The best thing to learn in life is to respect people before you know who they are.”
At EverGreen Technologies things started to change. The company decided to teach its employees to respect each other no matter what their job was. They had meetings and training sessions to learn how to communicate and be kind to each other
This new way of treating each other made the company a better place to work. The employees started to say hello to the security guards and thank the cleaners. Small acts of kindness became normal at the office.
Jessica Carter started to volunteer and help the employees during company events. She made sure to thank each worker and be kind to them

Margaret Wilson came back to the office the year and everyone stood up and applauded her. They did not do it just because she was the CEOs mother. Because she reminded them that everyone deserves respect no matter what their job is
The best leaders show others how to be kind and respectful. They make their companies better places to work.
The time you meet someone remember what Margaret Wilson taught the employees at EverGreen Technologies
Great leaders show everyone how to treat others with kindness and respect. They make their companies places to work and they help their employees be kind, to each other.
Lesson
Every profession deserves dignity and respect. A person’s value is never defined by their job title, uniform, or position, but by their character, honesty, and kindness. Great leaders inspire others not through authority, but through humility and compassion. Before judging someone, remember that everyone has a story, and treating others with respect is one of the greatest qualities any person can possess.
